iPhone
To set a song as your
ringtone on an iPhone, you have two options:
·
Buy a ringtone from the iTunes Store on your phone.
·
Create a custom ringtone from a song on your computer using
iTunes or Music app and sync it to your phone.
Buying
a ringtone from the iTunes Store
·
Launch the iTunes Store app on your iPhone. It has a white star
on a pink background.
·
Tap the More tab at the bottom right corner of the screen.
·
Select Tones. You will see various categories of ringtones to
choose from.
·
Browse or search for the ringtone you want. You can type in
“I’ll Be There for You” or the name of the artist in the search bar at the
bottom of the screen.
·
Tap a ringtone to hear a preview or see more info. You will see
the price of the ringtone in a blue box next to it.
·
Tap the price of the tone to buy it. You might need to enter
your Apple ID password to complete your purchase.
·
Choose an option to automatically set the ringtone. Or tap Done
to decide later.
Creating
a custom ringtone from a song on your computer
·
Make sure that the song is in MP3 or WMA format, has a maximum
duration of 39 seconds, is less than 1 MB, and doesn’t have DRM protection.
·
Connect your phone to your computer via USB. This will open
iTunes or Music app automatically.
·
Select the song that you want to use as a ringtone and
right-click on it. Choose Edit > Ringtone > OK. This will create a
ringtone file with the same name as the song.
·
Sync the ringtone file with your phone. You can drag and drop it
to your phone’s icon in iTunes or Music app, or use the sync settings.
·
Disconnect your phone from the computer.
·
Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Phone Ringtone on
your phone. You will see the newly added ringtone in the list. Tap it to set it
as your default ringtone.
Android
To set a song as your
ringtone on an Android phone, you have two options:
·
Download a ringtone from an app or website on your phone.
·
Transfer a song from your computer to your phone and use it as a
ringtone.
Downloading
a ringtone from an app or website
·
Open an app or website that offers ringtones for Android phones.
For example, you can use Zedge, which has a large collection of ringtones,
wallpapers, and icons for Android devices.
·
Search for the ringtone you want. You can type in “I’ll Be There
for You” or the name of the artist in the search bar.
·
Tap a ringtone to hear a preview or see more info. You will see
the download button next to it.
·
Tap the download button to save the ringtone to your phone’s
storage. You might need to grant permission to access your files or media.
·
Tap the set button to set the ringtone as your default ringtone.
Or tap Done to decide later.
Transferring
a song from your computer to your phone
·
Make sure that the song is in MP3 format and has a reasonable
size and length for a ringtone.
·
Connect your phone to your computer via USB. This will open a
file explorer window on your computer.
·
Copy and paste the song file to your phone’s storage. You can
save it in any folder, but it is recommended to save it in the Ringtones folder
for easy access.
·
Disconnect your phone from the computer.
·
Go to Settings > Sounds & Vibration > Phone Ringtone
on your phone. You will see the newly added song in the list. Tap it to set it
as your default ringtone.
Windows
Phone
To set a song as your
ringtone on a Windows Phone, you have two options:
·
Buy a ringtone from the Windows Phone Store on your phone.
·
Create a custom ringtone from a song on your computer using Zune
software and sync it to your phone.
Buying
a ringtone from the Windows Phone Store
·
Launch the Windows Phone Store app on your phone. It has an
orange shopping bag icon with four white squares inside it.
·
Tap More (…) at the bottom right corner of the screen.
·
Select Ringtones + Sounds. You will see various categories of
ringtones to choose from.
·
Browse or search for the ringtone you want. You can type in
“I’ll Be There for You” or the name of the artist in the search bar at the top
of the screen.
·
Tap a ringtone to hear a preview or see more info. You will see
the price of the ringtone in a green box next to it.
·
Tap the price of the tone to buy it. You might need to enter
your Microsoft account password to complete your purchase.
·
Choose an option to automatically set the ringtone. Or tap Done
to decide later.
